2011 FOOL – festival of oral literaturesThe 2011 FOOL – festival of oral literatures took place over three Thursday nights in October athe Free Times Cafe, and from Oct. 27 – 30 at Mercer Union, Alliance Française, Artscape Wychwood Barns, Toronto Public Library, and schools throughout Toronto.
FOOL is a celebration of the arts of voice and story, bringing together storytellers, mythtellers, word-dancers, “storm fools”, theatre artists, poets, and spoken word performers.
In 2011, FOOL featured Luigi Rignanese (France), Louis Bird (Hudson Bay), Ron Evans (Metis teller), Pat Braden (Yellowknife), Ouanani (Senegal/Quebec), Peggy Baker, Erika Batdorf, Celia Lottridge, Meagan O’Shea, Ann-Marie Bastien, Joan Bailey, Michael Wex, Sarah Granskou, Anna Kerz, Diane Flacks, Brian Katz, Ann McDougall, Daniel Goldbloom and storytellers from MothUP, Mutamba, Eddy da Original One, Jaron Freeman-Fox, Mariella Bertelli, and Dan Yashinsky.
Dan Yashinsky was the Artistic Director. FOOL was founded in 2009 by Dan Yashinsky and Lisa Pijuan-Nomura.
